Congratulations to our half-term Lego competition winners! Thank you to everyone who entered – we had a brilliant time looking through all of the photographs!

Here is a selection of the entries which the Judges enjoyed most, from some of our talented young entrants.

First Place was awarded to Toby, aged 5, for his waterworld town. The moat and the guard tower are keeping out the bad guy who is trying to steal the town’s eggs. Well done Toby – we all loved it!

Second Place went to Harry, aged 6, who went to his local library to build a Sea House. We loved the colours and the details! Well done Harry!

In Third Place came Indie, aged 6, who wanted to create a ‘quirky’ take on our theme of Walls. Well done Indie – this was the quirkiest wall the Judges saw!

#ILCD 2023

This year we were celebrating International Lego Classicism Day!

Every year on 20th February, people across the world take to social media to share their ancient-world-inspired Lego creations. This year the Hadrian’s Wall CA called on families schools and community organisations across the North of England to send pictures of their finest Lego work on the theme of WALLS!

Entry was open to anybody, of any age and from anywhere in the world!

International Lego Classicism Day was founded by Liam D. Jensen, “The Lego Classicist” in 2017 and has been hosted by many ancient history and classics university departments, museums and institutions including the Nicholson Museum, University of Sydney, the Museum of Antiquities, University of New England and the British School at Athens.

2023 was the 7th Annual International Lego Classicism Day and the official host this year was The Hellenic Museum, Melbourne, Australia.

Our Secretary, Cora Beth, was one of the Lego Classicist Pantheon this year, and created a Lego Labyrinth and Knossos Throne Room.

She used her build to tell a story, featuring some autistic Lego characters. You can read it here:
